Chalk paint is intended to change the color of the item you are painting much like latex oil or craft paint would. How does chalkpaint compare to regular old latex paint from which it is made anyway. This not only means they can cover large areas but that you can make a single container last longer. In contrast regular paints can cover tons of space with a single coat.
Is it really that good. However the finish coat is what protects your furniture. But that s because they re usually thin. Chalk paint adheres well to surfaces if there is no possibility of a stain bleeding through if the surface does not have a sheen and if you plan on using a protectant coat on top of the chalk paint.

Chalk paint is about as durable as latex paint. Typically it can take more paint to create an opaque finish for a couple of reasons. In my opinion chalk paint is for those people who are looking to get a more rustic imperfect old used and abused finish on their project i e furniture. Traditionally chalk paint is finished with wax but because kitchen cabinets receive such heavy wear i wanted to use a finish that wouldn t need maintenance.
